Alfred Steiglitz signed original vintage toned gelatin silver photographic print, circa 1900. Steiglitz did a series of night images and was known to patiently await just the right instance and moment when taking his images. Through his work and writing, photographer Alfred Stieglitz was instrumental in establishing photography as a recognized fine art form. Some of Steiglitz’s best-known photographs are of the painter Georgia O’Keeffe (who would eventually become his wife), and in line with his belief that great photography “becomes more real than reality,”. Steiglitz’s original silver print works are very rare. His night scenes are incredibly rare and most are held by major museums and collections. This image measures 9.25″Wx 11″H and is signed on the mat. There is discoloration on the mat and the image has some minor discoloration from age and from the non archival matting.
